Hollow Metal Frames For Masonry Walls
Masonry wire&T strap anchors may be required when meets a masonry wall. These 2 anchors are loose anchors that are not fastened to the frame but fit tightly inside the frame. On a block wall there are usually 4 wire or T anchors being placed in the mortar between several layers of blocks. Floor base anchors are also used to fasten the frame onto the floor. Anchors for poured walls function the same but instead of placing a wire anchor between blocks, the wire anchor will be place wrapped rebar. Then the frame will be stabilized and held in place, when the concrete is poured the door frame is back-filled with concrete and formed into the wall.
Hollow Metal Frames For Dry Walls
Universal stud anchors are usually used for both wood or steel studs. Hollow metal frames using universal stud anchors are meant to be installed during the wall framing stages which means door frames must be installed before the dry wall is hung. After the hollow metal door frame is anchored to the studs, the dry wall is slid inside the frame return. Universal stud anchors are typically sold as a loose anchor that snaps into the frame throat but options for welded in anchors are also available.
