Fire doors(also known as fire proof doors) usually refer to doors located in staircase walkways, elevator rooms, cable wells, exhaust flues and other closed places. The function of fire door is to satisfy the fire resistance stability and heat insulation in a certain period of time. It can prevent the spread of fire and ensure the evacuation of people. It is an indispensable equipment in the fire fighting work, commonly being used in large shopping malls, supermarkets, hotels and other public places. The fire door can be said to be inseparable from the safety of people’s lives. Fire doors are generally divided into two types:normally open fire doors and normally closed fire doors.
Usually it is in an open state, and it closes automatically when a fire happens. It is called an open fire door. Usually it keeps closed but in emergency situations can be pushed open to allow personnel to pass, known as normally closed fire doors.
The normal open fire doors should be adopted in the buildings where people often pass. That is to say, the public area(traffic route) including smoke-proof staircase, fire elevator and common room front, and the evacuation corridor. In addition to the location of the normal open fire door, the normal closed fire door should be used in all other locations. In other words, other fire doors should be normally closed except those marked in the drawings. It requires that the designer must specify them in the windows and doors table if the norms asks for the normal open fire door therefore the auditor can examine them accordingly.
