Fire barriers are common place and more and more buildings are having fire doors installed. In new build properties whether they are commercial or domestic structures, fire doors are quickly becoming standard issue. The thickness of the door is what makes it so secure because each inch of thickness increases the fire barrier between you and the raging inferno in the other room.
A fire rated door is manufactured in a similar manner to a normal door but with some extra mineral fire core inside the door leaf. Along with this it comes with a rubber sealant on the frame and on the edges of the door which melts to seal the door to avoid any smoke, heat, fire to escape from the affected area.
Asico Door’s wood fire door is filled with a fire resistant core between the two fireproof panels to enhance the fireproof performance. The decorative boards can not only wrap the inner fire proof boards well in the inner frame, but also beautify the appearance. The flame-retardant board added in the door frame enhances the fireproof effect of the door frame. The fire-proof seal stops the fire and smoke spreading through the gap between the door panel and the frame, so that the fireproof effect of the entire fire door is improved.
However there will be gap between double doors that needs to be sealed completely. Therefore we could install an astragal, or run a modesty strip down the outside of the door with the knob, or the one you use the most if both have knobs. Just a narrow strip of wood, finish nailed to the outside, that covers the gap. If you really want to seal it, you can install self adhesive weather stripping, but you'll probably have to close both of the doors at the same time to get them closed, and keep the weather stripping from being scraped off.
